Degree Level Study

We have students studying, or who have completed, degrees at AUT and the University of Auckland. Unitec also offers a number of degrees. At AUT and Unitec students without University Entrance are often able to staircase into a degree by completing a Diploma first. The Diploma has the same content as the first year of a degree and students can advance from the Diploma to the second year of the degree. |

AUT |
AUT Bachelor of Business
We have students who have progressed to the Bachelor of Business programme at AUT.
AUT - B.Eng.(Hons)
ASC students have progressed to the B.Eng.(Hons) programme at AUT. If students do not have UE with the 14 Level 3 credits in Calculus and Physics required for direct entry to the degree they can apply for entry to the Diploma (which requires UE literacy and at least 10 credits in each of 3 UE subjects). But the Diploma has a limited number of places and is oversubscribed so enrol early and accept any offer of place for the Diploma before it expires.We have some comments and notes on these first year courses which build on secondary school study.

AUT - Bachelor of Sport, Exercise, and Health
We have, and have had, students progress to the Bachelor of Sport, Exercise, and Health programme at AUT. One of our original (2019) students who left school with NCEA Level Two completed his Bachelor of Sport and Recreation (as the degree was called then) in 2023.

University of Auckland |
We have students who have progressed to the undergraduate Arts, Business, Health Sciences, and Law programmes at the University of Auckland.
UoA - B.Eng.(Hons)
The university has recently lowered the bar for entry to its B.Eng.(Hons) programme. The requirements are now
- University Entrance with a rank score of 250
- Achieved all 3 Level 3 calculus externals (but will now consider applicants who have passed 2 out of the 3 if places are available)
- Achieved all 3 Level 3 physics externals (but will now consider applicants who have passed 2 out of the 3 if places are available)
UoA - Health Science
Pacific and Pacific-Maori students who wish to enter the Bachelor of Health Science programme with the aim of becoming a doctor should reconsider. If you want to be a doctor, studied NCEA, and didn't attend one of the Auckland pre-med schools like Auckland Grammar, your chances of progressing from the first year Bachelor of Health Science directly to second year medicine are slim (less than 5%).
UoA - Science - Mathematics
Students at Auckland Sports College who have studied NCEA Level 3 calculus with us are well prepared for the advancing first year mathematics papers 120 and 130 at the University of Auckland. There are three tiers of first year mathematics at the University of Auckland. The introductory paper, 102, is a refresher course with some new material. It is suitable for our students who did not sit Level 3 externals in differentiation or integration. The next tier, 108 is for students with 13 credits in Level 3 mathematics including the differentiation external. The advancing courses 120 (Algebra) and 130 (Calculus) are for students with at least 18 credits in Level 3 mathematics, including at least 9 credits at merit or excellence.
UoA - Science - Physics
Students at Auckland Sports College who have studied NCEA Level 3 physics with us are prepared for the advancing courses 120 and 121. The recommended pre-requisites for these are 9 credits in Level 3 Physics (including the Mechanics external) and passes in the Level 3 differentiation and integration externals. It would be helpful to complete 102 at “summer start”.
