Students must pass the external literacy exams
(reading standard 32403 and writing standard 32405) and the external numeracy exam (standard 32406) at school in order to obtain NCEA at any level,
unless they achieve internal assessments in English and Mathematics (some standards in some other subjects count too). However, if internal assessments are used for literacy and numeracy they don't count towards the 60 credits required for an NCEA Level.
The literacy and numeracy externals are held twice a year, in May and September.
Students with a MyNZQA account can access all past digital external assessments, including those with copyright content, from the learners portal. Select External assessments then Past assessments.

We use these two books in order to prepare for the literacy external. |
